Prodigal Son Puppetry

by Level 3
Students used air-dry clay, paint and fabric as well as paper towel rolls and dowels to create rod-puppets and marionettes that represent the characters from the parable of the prodigal son. These characters include the father, the sons, the farmer, servants, party guests and little pigs. Some characters were created more than once, like the younger son who would appear differently when leaving home, working on a farm and returning home to a welcoming celebration. After creating their puppets they were able to reenact the well-known tale to enhance their understanding of its meaning.
