Back in the beginning of the school year, I taught a fifth grade class how to make 3D lettering using their initials and a circular template. Patterns were also introduced into the letters themselves. This is a good early in the year project using markers and a circle template. Instead of using my own initials I used the word "ART" for my demo piece:
